PCPYE operates several recurring programs to provide goods, services, and healthy recreation to the communities we serve. Learn more about them here.
A youth-centric family program with the goal to support and strengthen families through case management focusing on family development, education, and providing resources to the direct needs of each participant and their family. Activities in the Family Thrive program include health promotion, such as food demonstrations, nutrition classes, and education on stress management, diabetes, violence prevention, and mental health.
A program founded by the Port City Period Youth Advisory Board that connects youth with local seniors to provide a variety of social and recreational activities. PCPYE also provides seniors with baskets of essential items. Youth and volunteers provide grandparents with information on health insurance, medical assistance, healthy recipes, and senior activities in the community. Currently, Adopt a Grandparent is twice a year but strives to host events quarterly for our grandparents.
An annual book giveaway in the community. We provide each child books with characters and authors of people of color. Representation matters, and the children are excited seeing themselves within the books they read. Funding would allow an after school community-based literacy program and a book club for elementary age students grades 3-5. PCPYE partners with local elementary schools and the public library to strengthen reading and communication skills. We give children books that we read to start or increase their home libraries.

Once a month, year round, we create a community center that travels between sites and hosts weekend enrichment programs and field trips for youth and families. We currently host these workshops/events with 15 youth.
For 5 years, Port City Period has been organizing a community Christmas giveaway. This is our founder's passion project.
We would love to hear from you!
